@bolded. I dont blame 3rd parties...much. Why should they swallow the extra cost of having to cater to the Wii, becasue it was so different from the other two platforms that they had been working with already??  Like you said it would have cost more.  Even if they built these games for Wii first and used all that extra power from HDs to get the same GTA4 for PS360 that we know and love, what would have been the point?? People still would buy the better version anyway, just like they have been doing pratically the entire gen. You could name a handful of games that sold better on WIi despite the larger audience. Sure its a bit, lazy but it makes buisness sense. Im sure people who are interested in those games owned another console to play those games, numbers back up my point, even back then the 360 versions beat the Wii ones.

As for Wii U im not going to speculate on power of Wii U until I see it at E3, but even if it is much more powerful, 3rd parties will NOT take advantage because they are lazy and that would be extra work. Why would they bust their ass, for a version they know would sell the least anyway?? Especially in the first year, they won't.

Prior to 2009, many Wii owners were just Wii owners. Why do you think PS360 have had late surges in sales? Its a combination of natural new gamers entering the market along with Wii owners buying a 2nd console.

Had they started supporting Wii earlier with AAA games, they would have tapped the greatest single marketshare and greatly increased their revenues as the Wii only gamers would have bought those games vs buying a 2nd console. CoD sells over a million on Wii every cycle and that's with a market where those who would buy these same games have largely bought a 2nd console. Image if it was done before they migrated.

People wouldn't have automatically bought the 'better' version anyway. Some people were willing to ignore HD for better controls on certain types of games (FPS). I was one of them personally. AC, Batman, GTA, etc... all of those could have been identical games with the downgraded visuals. I'd been fine with that as would many others. They would have bought more games vs spending $300 on a PS360. As an example... which sold more the console version of Battlefield 3 or PC version? However, the PC version is far superior in many ways beyond just graphics. People would have bought games for the console they had vs buying a new console... at least the majority.

Instead 3rd parties were dillusional to the idea that these games wouldn't sell in any large numbers to Wii owners and therefore no need to attempt. Eventually they sort of forced their ideas as Wii owners picked up that 2nd console.

As for Wii U. I doubt that. One reason they didn't want to down grade to Wii was because they want to put out a game that looks and is the best possible... at least for their big franchises. In that sense, until MSony put out new consoles, I'd bet that the big games will be noticeably better in many ways on Wii U as they push their product to be simply the best. THis is also why Nintendo is focusing on the idea that its easy to develop for and port. Meaning it'll take no real effort to get the 360 game to simply work on Wii U, so the dev time in stead can focus on improvements catered to its controller and increased power/techs.

Check the games that came out prior to 2009 you would still see those multiplats sold better on 360 than on WIi, so in fact there were quite a few Wii owners who had at least another console. Alone in the Dark and Force Unleashed are two right off the top of my head. especially in Star Wars case, 360 version far outsold the WIi version, period and the PS3 version managed to outleg the WIi one. imil is crap for COD, those are crap numbers, not when the PS360 version are doing 10mil+, its April and the MW3 for WIi hasnt even gone GOLD yet, HD versions do that in seconds.

THe people who were willing to ignore the better versions or in the minority, again check the multiplat sales, for the ENTIRE gen, they will tell you that a good chunk of those games were selling better on 360. We dont have Battlefield digital numbers so thats not a good comparison, for all we know the PC version did sell better than consoles, which would prove my point. Agani people HAVE been buying the better version of these games.

@ I wouldnt say its delisunial, its just buisness, they either didnt have the resources or they didnt went to spend the money. Even if they were delisuanial gamers still picked up a second console to play those games.

THe difference in looks for Wii U is going to be about the same difference between PS2 and Xbox, noticable but nothing crazy. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in for some hurt.
