*entire detailed post deleted for unforeseen reason*

short version:

of all the games you mentioned only 2 of them started out as a huge sellers when they were secured by Sony, GT and Crash (which were first party developed). Only 2 games were secured by Sony as exclusives on the pretense that they are huge sellers ALL of the others were small successes under 5 million

so yeah your wrong, Sony's goal is not to secure huge selling games but games and lots of them and that's it, some do better than others, but few if any are KNOWN to be huge sellers at the time they are secured for PlayStation platforms.

Don't believe me look it up, GTA, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Tomb Raider, etc ALL started out as regular modest success hell even Metal Gear (the one's that came BEFORE Solid)

These three links highlight a clear change in Sony's M.O. and the Vita is following the latter approach.

Final Fantasy was already quite big before the PS1 (VI sold about 3.5m, making it one of the biggest third party games of its time). VII was the first worldwide release of the series and backed up by a massive marketing campaign that was funded by Sony (Sony was also the publisher of the game in America and Europe).

The GTA exclusivity announcement at E3 2002 speaks for itself, as does the third link. Of course, if you revise history, then it's easy to make yourself believe that Sony will be doing fine, because they are doing the same things as always. But in reality they aren't. Sony used to go aggressively after third party games, but nowadays they don't do this anymore.

those links are nothing more than announcements, I could find that for all the games they announced as exclusive, so I don't see how that refutes my point

@ bold ehh yes and no

yes.) - I think it easier to money hat (talking about Nintendo/Microsoft) when you've been out longer which means a larger instal base by default (advantage had by ps1/ps2) and cheaper than your competitor (also advantage had by ps1/ps2) Sony's problem in recently is that they launch later and for higher price.

No.) - However it doesn't stop the fact the 3rd parties eventually come around, and that's Sony being Sony, so they either launch first and affordable and get massive support first or the  launch late and and get massive support later, either way they still get support, and Vita will be no different, it will be in the get support later, 3ds would still have outsold it by a mile but it wouldn'y mean much of nothing in the end, like the DS effect on PSP and Wii effect on PS3,

Sony's failure handheld last place doomed machine sold 70+ million units, and the money pit ps3 is sitting comfortably at 62 million and out selling both the 360 and wii, and I'm stressing that those are their failures, they have the highest selling first and last place consoles of all time, they have completely re-written what it means to be the "loser". So as far as I'm concerned Sony clearly knows what they are doing, thus no need to worry, just enjoy what you have and wait for the amazing to come (Wipeout 2048 is the greatest handheld racer....EVER)
