No, this was really a Vita-specific statement. It's not going to have much, if any, exclusive games that will sell multiple millions of copies, so it has to establish itself through sheer masses of exclusives.

which has basically been Sony's M.O. since the beginning of Playstation

Nope, the bestsellers lists of the PS1 and PS2 show the contrary. These systems had many (timed) exclusives that were multimillion sellers.

not really

accoriding to this site

of the 325 million sellers on ps2, 5 broke 10 million units and only 18 sold over 5 million units

of the 206 million sellers on ps1, 1 broke 10 million units and only 18 sold over 5 million units

and those not only were market leader they dominated thier genreations in ways wii could only dream

playstation consoles sell on breath of exclusives the 100+ million sellers that find their way to the platform, granted some will so better than others, there is always something that catches fire (monster hunter clear proof of this) but those are not what carry the console, ps3 would not have sold half of what it sold last year if not for ALL those games it recieved.

Vita will be the same way, 1-3 games at best will break to 6+ million, but the bulk of it's library with be filled with 1-3 million sellers, once the constant steady stream of games being to be released the sales will pick up and non of you will care
