This is like buying a game though. If you pledge $15 or more, you get a free copy of the game when it's done. And the money isn't paid if the project doesn't reach its limit, so if the project doesn't get enough money to get off the ground, you don't lose anything. 
Not that you shouldn't be giving to charity of course, but it shouldn't stop you from supporting this either!
