Speculative scientists like to make anythign eventually look like our preception of grey aliens, because that's a sexy hypothesis that'll give them attention. For example:
So, yeah alien's could be evolved humans from the future. Or we could be a seed race of aliens. Or they could be evolved dinsosaurs that left the plaent before the that meteor hit. Or they could be demon's trying to test man's faith in a false form. Or they could actually be from another planet or dimension. Of course, it could just be a modern form of mythology, people trying to explain the unknown and wanting to beleive in something that ultimately doesn't exist. I lean towards that answer, but hey, anything is possible.
