| o_O.Q said: "When I refer to physics I am talking about game dynamics" they aren't the same thing "pretty much irrelevant to the point, which was if i understand correctly you trying to give the impression that mario kart was the first racing game with air tricks which is nonsense It's not, but it's implemented very differently from ATV Off-Road fury." "it's not" pretty much all you needed to post the rest is irrelevant and atv off road is just one example there are several other games that had similar features before mario kart "Sony's fighter is a close of Smash Bros." not because of any gameplay, aesthetic, control or etc factors but simply because it may use sony's character lineup? lol whatever its pretty much pointless to argue over an unannounced game that may not even exist anyway "Grappling hooks in LBPK are used only to swing the driver to cross a larger gap" from my perspective making a statement like that is absurd, you claim that the grappling hooks are only used in one way in the game... so, um how do you know that? are you privy to more information besides what has been released already and have a full list of all features from the game? if not how could you possibly know? " In LBP grappling hooks were also used to pull you closer to objects (in that video on a boat). They were also used to pull you towards other players. Why are those gameplay mechanics of LBP not implemented in LBPK and only those which imitate Mario Kart 7?" the second thing i'd like to point out is as i've repeated about 5 times the grappling hooks shown in the trailer function exactly as they did in lbp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRk4-nOg1-0 so is your point that mk 7 copied lbp then lbpk copied mk 7? does that sound even remotely sensible to you? |
Game Dynamics->Mario Kart was the first racer which was just ridiculous to play. Top Gear, Rad Racer, and anything else on NES or before Mario Kart was completely different, they were more focused on actual cars racing really fast and unrealistically, where Mario Kart in general is unrealistic all together and just fun. There were items which appeared out of flat boxes in MK, tracks were not stationary anymore, boost pads, jumping, etc. Nintendo made the Kart Racing subgenre. So like the other guy said, all Kart racers will resemble Mario Kart. I just wish there was more diversity, like Diddy Kong Racing had.
Mario Kart wasn't the first game with air tricks, just like it's not the first looney racing game, but it's application of air tricks is far less serious then ATV off road fury. Nintendo didn't make this idea, but I wouldn't say they copied it. After all how many racers gave you boosts with air tricks before Double Dash?
As for Sony's Smash Cross-over. Why does Sony need to copy Nintendo? Let Nintendo had a cross over smash em up. I mean do you see Nintendo trying to copy Gran Turismo or God of War?
As for Laso's being used only to extend the jump. My original point was "based off this video, LBPK looks like a rip off of Mario Kart." Until the game is finished, we dunno how similar they will be.
How could Mario Kart copy LBP? different genres, different purpose. By your logic LBP copied Lost Planet.
Also I saw that trailer, where in LBPK is Sackboy using the grappling hook horizontally? Never uses it to corner or grab enemies...
