I am becoming very depressed about the state of gaming and Sony... Apple is taking over the world, and seemingly runining gaming with iOS games.
The main thing is, I go into a store and see the Vita for £225 and then the PS3 with £190, what idiot would chose a Vita over a PS3? So you ar ejust limiting your audience to PS3 users (especially as you can't download stuff to the PC to get it on your Vita and the wi-fi turns of when you let the Vita sleep which is really annoying). So by limiting the audience, it just makes it harder to find people with £200 spare to spend on a portable games console, especially when many have iPhones

3DS is more expensive than Wii but is doing reasonably well for itself. People expect newer electronics to be more expensive, the matter lies in the fact that PSVita is attempting to be PS3-lite, whereas DS nor 3DS were or are Wii-lite.

I don't buy that whole theory that people don't want it because its "console-like". All that means is it is powerful enough to compare to a console. That can be said about the 3DS, that can be said about the DS, that can be said about the GBA. The only difference with the PSP and PSV is that its comparable to current gen consoles, but is the 3DS that far off from the Wii? That's "current gen" right?
What's the appeal of non-console-like? What does that even mean? Are people looking for games that don't use dual analog? 2D graphics. What? It doesn't make any sense.

You're close to correct. People are looking for games that offer simpler experiences than consoles yet deeper experiences than mobile phones, games that have depth but do not require long periods of play. Monster Hunter with its time-limited quests is a good example of this; tailor-made for handhelds. This is also why Mario Kart has worked in that mode.
