Microsoft need to cut the price of the Xbox 360 in September, just 1 or 2 months before Halo 4, Forza Horizon and CoD Black Ops 2 will be released. The fact that there will be a SKU available next month, which is $50 more expensive than the (most expensive) launch model (!!!) from 2005 is just ridiculous.

About price cut, heavy marketing looks like it works as well for MS, but yes, now people must really be expecting a cut, so a cut could work the best this time, making many people stop waiting.

And didn't anybody notice that simultaneously the former home and portable leaders, and still leaders for lifetime sales, are currently the worst sellers in their respective markets? While most of Ninty profits still come from Wii and DS HW and SW, it's 3DS that currently keeps the brand relevant for HW. And while this is now perfectly fine for portables, where the succession can be considered successfully completed, Wii's brandname is quickly getting tarnished just before Wii U launch, not a clever marketing strategy.

Nintendo knows what it's doing though. Wouldn't count them out just yet xD

Oh yes indeed, this is the result of errors of the recent and mid term past, but now they are doing things right. But surely they'll have to pay at least a small price for not having managed well DS and Wii in the latest stages of their lives, doing things right from now on will ensure that price to pay will be as small as possible and increase the chances for Wii U of being market leader as Wii was.

Nintendo has a history of screwing over their customers late in the gen, and as in the N64and GC it looked almost exactly like it does with the Wii. Frustrating to say the least. Been through this 3 times and it never gets any less frustrating.

3DS doing well, PS3 is fine, 360 not great, Vita I hoped for a bit better, and the rest...bah!

The spring/summer combined with old hardware for the home and the Vita price issue combines to make this a brutal month so far. The only real highlight is Tales, a game I didn't expect to chart over top 20. This time of year is always slow, but looking at the YoY I really hope MS and Sony are putting the final touches on their final dev kits. Same goes for the Wii U production HW.

At this point in the (home) console race I think bragging about winner or losers is silly. Sorta like saying you got the most baskets in the 4th quarter ignoring the whole game. Or saying have the fastest liquid cooled Pentium 4. This gen is wrapping up any gains will be minimal, and devs must be already looking to the next gen stuff with a mind to backporting, and fulfilling whatever obligations they have to exclusives and other agreements..

Handhelds are the only thing keeping the charts exciting in the least and I expect that to continue until the Wii U at the very earliest, assuming it is a decent seller.

On the SW side kudos to Uncharted, a game that was a bit slow out of the gate but has run a heck of a marathon. On the other hand SIlent Hill... ouch! Both deserved their fate. Wish RE 3DS was moving a bit better though. Rayman Vita sales are killing me though, maybe PC or 3DS will save it, but I don't count on it.
