I wonder if Nintendo ever got offered..

Microsoft tried for 25 billion....

There's a long running joke that in response to that offer, Yamauchi told Steve Ballmer to suck his balls. Part of me wishes it was true...

Well actually my uncle worked for Microsoft back during the beginning of Xbox. I was told Bill Gates gave the President of Nintendo a blank cheque and pretty much said write any number you want on it. To which Nintendo's President said Nintendo would need to remain in dependant of Microsoft and Nintendo would need 100% control of its properties and hardware. Essentially he said Nintendo would need to remain completely Nintendo. Apparently Bill Gates said no he would take over and Microsoft would run Nintendo. Nintendo found this to be unacceptable. No amount of money could get Nintendo to sell out its franchises and brands. Nintendo was family operated for a long time and steeped in Japan's culture the company is a living breathing organism and no one will ever buy Nintendo up and make it their bitch. As for this idea. Nintendo would be losing big is time in such a deal. It might be a great idea for Google but horrible idea for Nintendo. Genius Sonority already alluded to the fact that all future handheld game consoles will include phone capabilities so we know that the next Nintendo handheld will likely be a smart phone. So many flaws to Nintendo using Android as a primary platform. Nintendo can developed such good software today because they utilize the hardware to its fullest. The hardware remains relevant for around five years and Nintendo has so much time to capitalize and master the hardware. But Android devices differ greatly not only from year to year but phone to phone. Creating software that fully utilizes the latest version of Android often means its shit on older hardware. Utilize the older hardware and the software is shit on the latest phone. iOS does a lot better largely because their is only one new phone each year. Developers can master the latest hardware and their are far fewer units to support. Android would be a mess for Nintendo to support. If anything I think Nintendo would benefit by buying a cell phone company like say Black Berry and merging the hardware business to make an amazing handheld gaming phone. Though Black Berry would be far to expensive for Nintendo to acquire and it would sink stock value to shit. Either way I think a Nintendo handheld with phone features will be inevitable next generation. But Nintendo being bought by anyone would be foolish. Nintendo knows what they are doing they are not going anywhere anytime soon and selling would be asinine!

Haha yeah! That would be awesome if he did :D Wonder though what their real answer was...
