Ito actually isn't the original developer, Keiichiro Toyama is, although Ito is one of the key original team members.

Still, I agree 100%, and the Silent Hill HD Collection on both the PS3 and 360 became the first two Silent Hill purchases that not only disappointed me beyond repair, but have both been been returned/traded-in since. Konami let a lot of it's fans like myself down.

Is it that bad? That you tried both HD console versions but returned them?

I still want to buy it though.

The 360 version is tolerable, because it at least has a consistent frame-rate throughout. The PS3 version, especially Silent Hill 3, tries to run both games at 60fps, and while it pulls it off 30-40% of the time, the rest of the time, as I said - with a HUGE emphasis on Silent Hill 3, it lags/drops frames/slows down considerably. This doesn't even hit on the fact that neither HD Collection's Silent Hill 3 allows for you to play the game with the original voice actors/actresses. The monsters at least sound like the PS2/Xbox editions, but their voices are considerably lower/slower in some cases. Both titles within each collection are also missing some effects seen in the last gen titles (fog effects, the HD Collection has washed out colors, and Silent Hill 2's gorgeous CG cutscenes were not remastered, so they are blurry as all get up).

This is easily the most disappointing release within the series, no matter what version. If you haven't picked up Downpour yet, I'd go for that! Even with its few issues (frame-rate drops and freezes), it's a fantastic game (albeit - doesn't quite feel like the "Team Silent" Silent Hill titles, but adds its own little twist with a compliment to past games).

Framerate is not too huge of a deal for me, so that's okay. And since I havent played the originals I dont have any relation to the old voices.

I am a bit sad that they didnt include The Room since I heard it's even more weird than the "main" Silent Hills.

Glad to hear you liked Downpoar. I plan to buy that as well.
