I just threw the word gimmick in there as Sony PR but I really do believe the Wii was a budget console (consumer friendly price, under 300 at launch).  The only system that Nintendo has released that was overpriced would probably be the 3DS.  I can't think of any other system that they released for hand held or home console that didn't have a decent consumer price point.  I suppose you can throw the Virtual Boy in too expensive but that was more of a lack of failure of the system than the price.  If Nintendo prices their system over 300 then I'll worry.  If it is 300 or under then that is a perfect price point for a new home console system these days.

"Budget" refers to lower than usual. The Wii wasn't priced lower than usual, rather the 360 and PS3 were priced (much) higher than normal. Likewise, Guitar Hero and Wii Fit being priced at $90 or higher didn't suddenly make $50/60 games budget titles.

Also, what happened to the rest of my post?

I was practicing my quoting deletion that we talked about in make VGC a better place.  I was trying to reduce clutter.  I agree with you on that first party titles have to carry Nintendo consoles considering depending on 3rd party companies would be a losing strategy (3DS already proved this).  You are right about the word budget.  How about I use the word normal/regular price?
