3)  I didn't really see anything he wrote in the entire post that actually disagreed with it.  Just the source.

Sources, Kaz, sources. Mention of Gaidar, Transparency International, Freedom House, Shleifer are worth a lot of ":D" as well. Bibliography of research defines it well enough to make a judgement if said research is a worthy material or not, any academic or school teacher will tell you that.

For better understanding (since we're on gaming site after all), it's like hardcorez vs casual stuff (or whatever is trendy today? have been out of gaming for a while) and people who in all seriousness trying to base their knowledge on this two-leged scheme, ignoring its' shortcomings, rather than just denying it all together as completely broken. And that's not surprising, since said gaming memeplex (or "memthology" if you will) as well as Aslund's stuff you brought up here (which is really typical middle-class European political analytic or enthusiast opinion) are two of the same kind, despite what phantom relations to reallity they might have, both were cultivated for a completely different purpose.

Not sure if I making myself clear though :D
