While I do believe it is going to happen eventually, it certainly can't be done now. Far too many people still rely on the retail channel to buy their games. Also, you don't want to end up with the situation of a big game not being available through direct download, as was the case with Birth by Sleep and the PSPgo.
My friend is an idiot. He kept playing Tetris because I told him there was an endboss.
