People really don't know about the GameGear at all it seems. As far as the hardware goes, it's nothing like a Genesis. In fact, its hardware is much more similar to that of the Master System. That being said, it boggles my mind when people can't be bothered to dig up the quality titles on a legacy system when they have Internet access. As far as exclusives go I'd have to recommend:
Aleste / Power Strike
Aleste II / Power Strike II
Crystal Warriors
Defenders of Oasis
Ninja Gaiden
Ristar
Shining Force II: The Sword of Hajya
Shinobi
Shinobi II: The Silent Fury
Sonic Triple Trouble
Tails Adventure
Personally, I'd avoid ports of Genesis games as they tend to lose much in translation. That being said, most of the Master System ports are really good, especially Sonic the Hedgehog, Master of Darkness and Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap.
