I think it's in part because of the fundamental humility of libertarianism, and partially because of the fundamental arrogance of academics. People in the real world try to make sense of the world around them, and people who fuck up in the real world tend to lose their jobs. Meanwhile, people in the academic bubble can spew whatever fucking nonsense they want with little to no repercussions, and if their students don't regurgitate exactly what they're taught, they're in a position to punish them for it. Left wing economists are especially bad at bemoaning how capitalism doesn't value humanity while at the same time taking the human element out of their economic models.
