It didn't make any sense either why JRPGs were put exclusively on the Xbox 360. Of course, they eventually came to the PS3, because the 360 couldn't move enough copies. But Monster Hunter Tri G has already matched the global sales of the first PSP Monster Hunter and therefore exceeded its Japanese sales. And Tri G is obviously not done yet as it still sells around 10k copies every week. Take a look, Tri G has the potential to also beat MHF2. That's not too shabby for a game that isn't new. Also, about a 25 % attach rate in Japan right now (3DS recently passed 5m). |
But what about capcom saying something like "our decision to go multiplat"? This isn't multiplat, right?
I will say that sales of tri are better than expected, and I think it's likely due to the 3d aspect of the game, since it's already on psp, and wii. It's hard to really make a good point without a new game on both systems, but i mean, freedom 3 is nearing 5 million in jp alone on psp. Nobody even knows why it hasn't been released in the states yet. MH is certainly a franchise that has been growing from entyr to entry, so beating older games in sales isn't necessarily impressive.
I personally think the 3d aspect of the game is pretty neat, though.
