I have a difficult time seeing the connection between the success of Dark Souls (on PS3), and the migration to tablets. I think these are two completely different things.
Having said that, this looks like sound planning, there is a huge market to grab on the tablet/mobile/social space, and it's first come, first serve. This developer migration will be a devastating blow to the dedicated console market, especially the mainstream segment.
I expect the dedicated console marketspace to considerably shrink gen 8, at the expense of Nintendo. However, since Nintendo still stands tall on its first party offerings (thank heavens), it will still be strong. The Vita, not so much.
