Just because you SAY your against something doesn't mean anything. For the people out there who actually ARE doing something (and not just "raising awareness") then great, you truly are a good person in this regard. But for everyone else (read: the majority) this is just them patting themselves on the back and feeling good for "taking a stand". PS there is also the whole issue of America not needing to be the world police, recovering from a recession, and Africa's state of afairs, but I know fuck all about that so I'm not going to comment |
I especially agree with PS. I also agree with the rest, but you must concede, there is a start for everything. Of course it's easy to look at it and say, in general, these are people just trying to feel good about themselves. But what about those of us this spurs to action? Already writing in this thread is my baby step. I would also like to do the April 20th. Of course I can't afford to fly to Africa just yet, but I can step out and stamp posters in my city.
You know what I mean?
