lol I love Reggie but he is a figure head. He is an amazingly talented marketer and spokes person but he is not given the power he needs to do his job.
Example Iwata announced DSL and that same day Reggie in an interview denied its existence. I was so confused Reggie in an interview that day saying their was no new model of the DS on its way that it was just a rumor.
Now I know Reggie knew the new model was coming he was lying till Iwata was ready to make the announcement. But Iwata didn't tell him that he was announcing DSL that day. That shows just how little authority Reggie has.
Similar things happen in Europe. NOE has confirmed and denied products that didn't or did come. Later on having to back track because Nintendo heads changed their minds.
Fact is Nintendo of America takes its orders from Nintendo in Japan and not Reggie. Reggie may have influence and some authority but he is not in charge entirely of NOA like he should be.
If the President of Nintendo Of America doesn't even know when the company announced a product. That is simply insane and shows he isn't in charge.
This could be a ploy to give him credibility, sort of a joke.
The fact that Nintendo out sourced most of its marketing which Reggie is an expert at. Reggie has said many things and had great ideas that were never pursued. I have no doubt if Reggie was given actual control of NOA and was influential in Nintendo's over all policy making would only benefit Nintendo.
