| Jumpin said: Oh, and Donkey Kong Country is an awesome series. The first three are to this day three of the very best platformers ever made. Probably the only platformer I liked more than Donkey Kong Country 2 was Super Mario Galaxy 2. |
I know, right? I mean, great level design, unmatched presentation, tonnes of collectibles, bonus levels, secrets, and the perfect difficulty curve. I just don't see how anyone can honestly say the DKC games were 'dull' or 'plodding'. if he didn't care for them, I respect that, but to say they're inferior when they're easily some of the best made platformers of all time is just begging for the flames.
Levels - 6-8 worlds per game, each with 5-8 levels.
inventive bosses capping off each and every world
dozens of collectible bananas that also help guide you if you get lost or hint at bonuses.
Bonus levels for completionists, each housing a minigame of sorts
side quests such as the brothers bear item exchange, banana birds, DK coins, etc
Wide variety of level themes and locales
Minigames and trivia stuff through the second and third games
hidden bonus worlds that you can unlock
There's just so much to do, to point out one 'flaw' (I don't like collecting bananas) is just dumb. Not to mention Donkey Kong has always had more to do than Mario; another game series I've always adored.
