This is an interesting story in and of itself, since the Byelorussians are a better-developed country economically (they're about level with the "good" parts of Russia, and don't have regions like the North Caucasus holding them back), one would think they would have developed more stable democracy than Russia did, and not a system even more authoritarian.

Don't forget they don't have huge natural resources to consume like Russia does.

And well they still are very poor and often come to Poland to work for minimal wages and when they go home those few dollars saved are worth lot more than here. And that's when compared to one of poorest countries in EU.
