A political system built on Bread and Circuses, where the mainstream media acts like the ministry of truth from 1984 ... Their ship is sinking while one party polishes the brass and the other rearranges the deck-chairs; and they have both distracted the passengers from getting on the life-boat by having them argue over who has the nicer cabin, and whether individuals should buy their own condoms from the vending machine or whether they should be provided by the ship (and paid for as part of your ticket).
