2008. Some of my favorite games came out that year; Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Castlevania Order or Ecclesia, Dragon Quest IV, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Etrian Odyssey 2, and Professor Layton.
I purchased a whopping 11 DS games that year!
