Straightforward actually. Though the home consoles can't easily be played on the go by any common means, the mobile offerings can. Facebook certainly can being PC compatible. Nintendo needs to bring added value, either by unique hardware offerings (dual screen, controller to TV interaction), or by truly differentiatingly high quality SW content. And that's pretty much exactly what Iwata said. Hence the legitimacy of a premium for such offerings. |
Well thats it then, the fact that Wii U isnt portable is the one disadvantage it has up against Apples stuff. FB?? Really?? No one is going to be hyped because the Wii U can run FB, all the electronic devices run it, hell Wii runs it if you use the browser, no one is going to be excited for stuff like that. Or Netflix, or Hulu Plus, these are things that have bee available for other devices for YEARS, the fact that Ninty is now getting in on it, IMHO, will only make them look worst to the Apple crowd if they are trying to get them.
Like you said, Ninty needs to differentiate themselves. Wii U is not really Ninty doing that IMHO, the tablet is just a poor man's tablet, none of the Ipad or even other tablet users are going to look at that and say "well i dont need my ipad no more" hell I think the kindle might be more advanced.
