Tech enhancments in schools in the 2000's?

Talk about the disadvantages.

e.g. paper register can be taken immediately, electronic has to wait for the computer to boot up, webpage to load, and hope it doesn't crash.

Also in the event of a fire our school receptionist has to print off all the data, presumably while the flames close in.
