Makes one think about the real damage Microsoft is able to do to the PS brand this gen and possibly the next one...

When talking about the damage done to the PS brand this generation and next, you have to look at the bigger picture.

Will Sony for a 2nd straight generation play all the wrong cards for 2 Years, letting the competition walk all over them? Will Microsoft play a stellar hand for a 2nd straight generation?

Despite all the damage done to the PS brand, despite all the screwups by Sony and the straight up blinders played by Microsoft, they're both currently neck and neck. The PS3 (And the 360) will still end up selling over 80(90?) Million units despite all the wrong moves, proving there is still a lot of power in that PS brand, despite a lot of that said power diminishing from the PS2 era.

Yes, I agree with that. But Sony made the Ps brand a HECK of a lot smaller than it was 7 years ago.

Companies have learnt the error of their ways this gen (RROD 360, Weak Early Line up, Expensive hardware Ps3). So next gen will be just as unpredictible as we started this gen.

Like when Sony thought that they could just dump an expensive hardware and expect it to sell because the brand says PS. LMAO.

That was because of price and third party titles. Microsoft took the hardware hit to beat Sony to the punch, but the succeeded as well by cutting Sonys marketshare down tremendously. Really now the war between Sony and Microsoft will come down to three things:

1) Exclusives

2) Hardware

3) Online

Microsoft has one of those things. The other two they will be hard pressed to beat Sony with unless they find a way to keep the Kinect momentum going until next gen. Word has it the next Xbox will have the Kinect integrated into the system and dont really like to entertain that type of speculation. Microsoft is flirting with it though.
