Since Sony really hasn't been able to make any headway in five long years (their gains can all be attributed to Japan), it's Sony's first party that is lacking. The fact that Microsoft needs to do so little to stay ahead shows the strength (or rather lack thereof) of Sony's exclusives.

Just say they are leading Sony in America. Kinect is what is creating the phenomenon and the initial launch price of the 360. Price and games appeal the most to the American consumer. Kinect is what is keeping Microsoft going. Sony's exclusives have strength, its just that their marketing sucks. Gamers like games with variety to gain new experiences and every one of those games are quality, but popular? Thats another story.

What I gather from software sales on both the 360 and PS3 is that both consoles heavily cater to the 13-25 year old male crowd who don't seek variety, but rather only games that are appropriate for their age in their opinion.

Little Big Planet, Mod Nation Racers, Sly cooper, Motorstorm, God of War 3,Killzone 3, Singstar, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, Infamous, MLB The Show.

Regardless of the fact that the PS3 and 360 have a similar crowd, The PS3 has more available for active gamers. The majority of active gamers dont know about the majority of the PS3's hottest exclusives. I've spoken to people and it's quite sad on both the 360 and PS3 side of the tracks.
