oh, I totally get where you're coming from, learning that this was all a flashback was super jarring when the first game came out and took EVERYONE by surprise. That said, I think it's a really effective tool to make you feel like you are desmond, playing as Altair...not everyone likes it, but clearly people like it becuase each new iteration sells in excess of 7-8 million copies, whuch is nothing to scoff at. Hell, Revelations is at I think just under 7 million sold and has only been out three and a half months!
