At best its a $300 handheld with only a few games available. I never understand why people expect miracles.

3DS didn't do well, actually exceeding predecessors so far, until it reduced its price sub-$200 and had a far larger library of quality games that hit mass appeal.

Vita won't be at that for a year at least. Next Xmas will be the first time it sales well relative to the PSP and even then it will be less due to substantially higher cost barrier.

Only way to fix is to redesign as a smartphone.

$250.

Rol already stated my point, but adding the mandatory memory card adn taxes, etc, you're far closer to $300 or more. That is the real base price.

@superchink and Rol

almost every retailer that i can think of bundled the 4gb memory card with the wifi system. it was probably much harder to find a vita without a memory card than one with it.

Very first place I looked. I saw no bundle option with a card and the 4GB card is $20, so $270 w/o game or taxes. So, yeah far closer to $300 any way you slice it.

i guess not anymore, but all of launch week, bestbuy, amazon.com, walmart, gamestop, and toy r us, and probably more, all threw in the 4gig card for free

So, in the end, its a $300 system. Say it. O_O

how so?

the memory cards dont cost $50 (some do), but it cost $20.

so $270.

if you are including tax (not all places collect tax), its still less than $300. and by that logic, the 3DS is nearly a $200 system. the xbox $330, etc.

also you dont need a memory card for some games, also if you cant find a mem card for less than $20, you arent looking very hard
