Good points which I all agree with.
I've always been against this outspoken mission to try and make gaming appear sophisticated and be taken seriously, often compared to movies and literature. Why care? Gaming is what it is, and if it's mostly immature and childish (not saying it is, but what if it was? Would we be condemned to Hell?) then that's the true nature of it and that should be the public image of it. No need to try artifically hide and censor practitioners of your hobby who you don't feel comfortable with.
