The one thing I think he was wrong about is having it only work for one player.
With the current configuration that may be true, but in the future you could flash the multiplayer LEDs and synch the readings with which player's lights were currently powered. So you could have 4 viewports each with its own projections.
I doubt that would provvide any latency at all, but I do see a problem with which game genres this would work well for. It could provide more realism for all genres, but I'm not sure what genres would really utilize this in game play, ecept maybe rails shooters.
