I would actually consider buying a nintendo system if they remade the first few pokemon games (first gen or first and second) into a 3D open world RPG on the scale of something like Skyrim, and be able to play as the pokemon in combat. That could be incredible.

I know right? Nintendo must have something similar in mind for the Wii U! Too bad I wouldn't be able to justify buying a system for one game though, unless it becomes dirt cheap like Wii is now

Don't get me wrong, I like Mario, I like Zelda, I like Metroid. I enjoy playing them at a friends house or whatever but I prefer SONYs first party games over Nintendos. Pokemon is the only Nintendo IP I love, but that loves still limited :P I only really like the first/second gen because it's what I grew up with, what I've played with and what I know, so some type of next gen reboot of that generation would be incredible for me.

I wish I had enough money to buy all the systems, as I like all of them, but I only have enough for one home system (not including my PC) and one handheld, and SONY just suits me better than Nintensoft.

That is my reasoning. Except that the Wii U will have HD and better 3rd party support, I now don't care about the other consoles.
