dark_gh0st_b0y said: hm, counting million sellers shows Wii has more party/sports/fitness/platformer/adventure and simulation, lacking largely in fighting, racing where it's got the biggest sellers of the gen by far!? Wii hasn't got as many shooters and action games, where Ps3/Xbox360 million sellers are found, but still has a respectable amount of million sellers in that area, so i wouldn't say it's lacking, it's just not focused there if you take into account that Wii has best racing (MKW) and best fighter (SSBB), then it is not really lacking in these genres because it's got the top titles of those genres because sales are concentrated there, so million sellers cannot say Wii lacks racers or fighters not to mention that Wii has obviously the higest number of under-appreciated, highly rated by low selling games by far (and none of them are party titles or sports) , so million sellers is still not quite valid for saying Wii is only party/sports |
thats one fighting game versus how much on PS360??
1 mil 5 20, its nonsense, that is NOT how you determine who has the most diverse game library. The only way to do that is to simply just count the games in every genre for each title and see where the disparity is

Wii has the ultimate fighter SSBB which 10m+ seller, best selling fighter ever on a console, far above any fighter on Ps3/Xbox360 where the best selling is Tekken 6 Ps3 with 2.4 million, Wii has Dragonball, Castlevania, Naruto, Mortal Combat and some others, but who cares about those since you can play the ultimate fighter on Wii? not to talk about racers, it's even more humiliating
i don't say varation in games, since Ps3/Xbox360 have more big games, talking about where the big games are found among genres....
NMH has 8.5 on gamestats, wouldn't call that garbage, so does NMH2, about 0.5 higher than the big selling Prototype for example, just telling

variation is diversity, thats what this thread was trying to prove, sales dont mean anything in that regard. I play Tekken 6 way more than SSBB. Again what does that have to do with diversity?? There are MORE fighting games released on the HDs than Wii, fact. It doesnt matter how much SSBB sold because its still ONE game.
I would call NMH garbage because I played it and thats what I thought it was garbage. I dont care what anyone else says, they liked it. Good for them. Why did MNH2 not sell better or at least as well as NMHs?? The only thing would be that the buyers of the original game didnt think it was that good to begin with

the difference is like 8 titles, in the fighting genre 44 for Wii, 52 for X360, 46 for Ps3 , a relatively small difference, Namco VS Capcom, Tekken, SoulCalibur, Street Fighter are all huge titles the Wii lost in the fighter genre
on the other hand SSBB is 4x the sales of Tekken 6 on Ps3, that's not a small difference, no fighter has ever been so huge on a home console before so it kind of covers up the empty space
it's all about taste

where are you getting your numbers from?? According to gamepot there are 31 fighting games( http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?platform=1031&category=Fighting+Games&mode=all&sort=views&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all ). PS3 I counted 49 from the same site, thats a big discrepancy, they werent even counting the DL games.
your second paragraph makes no sense at all. Not in the context of variety. SO because ONE game sold that much it some how accounts for getting essentially crap since 2007? Empty space? Try explain that to a Wii only owner who is a big fan of fighting games and tell him its okay. SSBB sold 10 mil so that makes up for him not being able to play Mvs.C2&3, SF3online, KOF12&13, TXSF, Tekken6, VF5, SF4, SSF4, newMK, MKvsDC, BlazBlue, etc. You see what Im saying about diversity??
its about taste, you're right. I found the game to be boring, it was like a hack and slash FF13. Run down corridors, beat up bland enemies do the same thing to a boss and occasionally shake your MOVE/Wiimote in a jerk off motion, no thanks ill go back to GOW, hell Id rather deal with Castlevania

getting the numbers from a post in here, didn't check if they are correct or not, i think it's in this thread or a similar one
i'm saying the difference is small but the titles lost are important ones, but none of them even touches SSBB, it's like saying Wii haven't got GTA IV, but we have GodFather and Scarface, it's not enough
it's about taste, i personally play SSBB with friends since 2008, also played some DragonBall on Wii and some SC4 on Ps3 for a small period of time, but SSBB is our most played Wii game so it's all about taste again
