Yes, I know ß very well, actually it's in my sürname.
Anecdote: Teacher - "Do you spell (name) with an eszett?" Me - "No, with a sharp s." Teacher - "That's what I meant." Class - **laughing** (I'd still bet most of them didn't know either...).
