Will any of today's gaming heroes match the lifespan of Mario?

I doubt it because (I dont know what MS is thinking, but) Sony let go of Crash and Spyro when they could've been hits for kids. Nintendo has characters on par with Disney which attracts the imaginations of children. You can't lose with them no matter which generation. Sony needs to go back to the Crash, Spyro mentality if they want a lasting character.
