I think its alot of things, multiple sequels on fighting games tend to have the latter underperform the former. Soul calibur 4 was not that good to begin with, they keep tweeking with move sets and characters, balance, these changes throws people who play the game competatively and makes the learning curve for new (and noobie/casual) players harder because the characters they did play changed so much. Once the videos of the french game players came out over the summer, I and alot of the SC community knew that this was not going to be a quality game and the sales show it.
Its going to be showcased at evo2k12 but i dont think the following is going to be big at all.
