Install base is a result from sales. But your right.

Install base is number of consoles in consumers homes, not only sales. Except for MS, where install base means shipped

I vaguely remmember someone posting (with a source). That one of the MS officials being interviewed said that Intstall base means sold to consumers to them.

Like "Microsoft revealed that there are over 66 million Xbox users worldwide"... that's install base no?
