I'm surprised by the reactions. I'm pretty sure the chance is 0% that GTAV is releasing on WiiU at all, ever.

Why?

Videogame development costs are at a level where the cost of porting a game and implementing tablet-controller specific features is tiny relative to the total budget of the game, and most companies are not going to ignore a platform that could provide millions of sales unless it is impossible to produce the game for that platform.

While I think there is a good chance that it might not be released for the Wii U simply because it might be launched too early in the Wii U's life, if it is released late enough I don't see why Rockstar would not release it for the Wii U.

The same can be said about a myriad of titles on the HD consoles, or better yet, titles that were on PS2/Xbox but were "somehow" omitted from the GameCube.

It should be clear by now that no western publisher is ever going to support a Nintendo home console.

The Gamecube was a different beast altogether ...

With the PS2 launching a year earlier, gaining a substantial lead, and seeing dramatically higher yearly sales than the much smaller development costs of previous generation titles could easily be covered by exclusively supporting the PS2. Unlike Microsoft, who spent millions buying support from third party publishers, Nintendo could not justify losing billions of dollars a year to try to gain third party support.

We're in a much different market (if you hadn't noticed) than we were a decade ago. Realistically, no one expects Nintendo to stop being a hardware manufacturer a generation from now; but a lot of third party publishers are facing bankruptcy over that time frame. I don't think you'll see many developers able to justify not spending the $1 Million in porting costs to get $20+ Million in profits to bring their games to the Wii U.
