Now it is quite obvious that Sony is known for releasing their Playstation platforms IN competition. What do i mean by this you ask? well the 5th generation was already being lead by the Sega Saturn before the PlayStation was brought to the market. The 6th Generation was already being lead by the Sega Dreamcast before the PlayStation 2 was brought to the market and the 7th Generation(present) was already being lead by the Xbox 360 before the PlayStation 3 was brought to the market. PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita included.

 

 

eh... ps1 and saturn launched almost simultanously, ps2 was there before xbox and gamecube. the ps3 is the only thing that came late. and btw, the saturn didn't lead anything except price ;)


yes i know but Saturn was still launched before the ps1 at the end of the day :)

 

and Dreamcast was launched before the ps2 so..


but the point was another one... the delay between saturn and psx was ridiculously small and dreamcast was no real competition, as anyone knows. the hardware was not that bad, was overall it was the wii in that generation, speaking of hw-specs. the point is: sony was late *only* with ps3 - with confidence, of course, after dominating the market with psx and ps2. it's nice to see that it turned out otherwise.
