| Dodece said: Somewhere along the line AAA has received a new definition and I was not informed? I always thought the definition referred to three key factors hype, budget, and quality. I wouldn't consider No More Heroes a AAA game regardless of the scores. While it might be a fantastic game its hardly had the hype or the budget to fork over a AAA accolade. |
I believe the rating is a reference to other ratings that go along the scale of AAA, B, C, etc. The case for AAA should be a game that's polished and at the top of its class in every category -- say 5% of all games should be classified AAA. Console warriors are all too quicky to declare a given game AAA, and I think the title of this thread is a play on that.
That said, B games win console wars. Look at the N64 and gamecube: they both had a ton of AAA games from Nintendo themselves and didn't win. NMH, more honestly, might be a B game (like other sub 90% gamerankings games including Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank), but quantity of good, solid B games wins generaitons. The PS1 and PS2 had tons of B games, and that's how they won their respective generations.
