There are plenty of examples on the wii of developers who put a proper effort and budget into a game and got great sales on it. Epic Mickey? Over 2.5 million. Monster hunter Tri? Over 2 million and best selling console MH game. Here's a surprise as well. Call of duty 3 that actually launched at the same time as the 360 and PS3 versions managed to over 2 million. Outselling the PS3 version and not far behind the 360 version. They then neglected to release MW (the game that made CoD explode in popularity) on the system for years and didn't bother with MW2. Then brought out gimped versions of the other games and were surprised they didn't perform well. Yes there are examples like the Conduit that failed. However it was a new sci-fi IP by a relatively unknown (and not well viewed) studio. There are plenty of examples of games on 360/Ps3 that also failed like Shadows of the Damned. Too many companies simply tried to throw out cheap versions of HD games that didn't use the wii controls well. |
Let's look at the companies you are talking about. Disney, Capcom, Activision. Hardly a fair comparison.
And MW did as well on wii as COD3 did. Annnnnnd it wasn't a port. That was all the system could handle.

Wii Cod3 sales - 2.14 million MW sales - 1.43 million
In comparison to the 360/ ps3 Cod3 sales -2.56m / 1.33m MW sales - 8.59m / 6.05 CoD3 same time. MW years after. Care to try and justify your stance that MW did as well on Wii as CoD3? CoD3 not only sold far better but also managed to kee pace with/ do better than the HD consoles. Then the series lost traction on Wii as the biggest installment skipped it until it was too late.
Also how is it an unfair comparison? He didn't say ''unless you are published by a big publisher or Nintendo you don't tend to do very well''. I used publishers who weren't Nintendo which is perfectly in line with what he said ''it’s become increasingly apparent that unless you are published by Nintendo you don’t tend to do very well.''

If you're going to be a semantics nazi, try looking up the word "tend".
And yeah, if you wanna have a debate about cod vs mw3, show me one title that even comes close to those games. Dude the games are just bad, and on top of it, the whole draw of MW is the hardcore gamers. There's never even been a game remotely like MW on Nintendo going back ten years, and even then, goldeneye is probably the closest thing. CoD was a different type of game than modern warfare. Anyone who has played both can attest. They're completely different. CoD3 was able to sell on wii because it had a certain audience. Modern warfare didn't because of the audience. To top it off, MW is very much an online game, and I'm sure you understand the extent of the Nitnendo Online ability.
