I'd keep the PS3 if I were him and save up for a 360. Owning a PS3 this early in it's lifecycle almost guarantees he'll get his money's worth and very likely a lot more since there are a lot of exclusive games that will be released for it in the coming years. As for his wife, get him to sweet talk her :D And he shouldn't care which system sells more, just which system has the games he wants to play. Lets be honest, who cares what the majority chooses or likes, it should come down to what the individual person likes.
