I stronly strongly! dislike the idea of erradicating the used game market for 2 reasons.
1. When it comes to used games, how will this affect games that have long been out of print? Say like someone wanted to buy the First God of War used, does that person have to pay extra just because he bought it used? He would have a much harder time looking for the game factory sealed than used if the 2nd hand market was gone. What if 5-15 years from now somebody bought a used game that had the online activation feature just to play it? chances are that, the game is uselsee cause the companie either stopped supporting it, or went belly up.
2. If the used market had ceased, the result would've been a pseudo-prohibition like situation. Where would the consumers go for their "fix" if buying it used was gone? They would have to resort to the black market which would increase piracy substantialy. Videogame companies would loose even more money than they already are from new used games.
