The whole service contract being included in the price of the iPhone hardware is fairly silly. That is the same as including the price of games and memory cards as the price of the Vita hardware.

There are many reasons why it is silly, starting with the fact that it is a monthly fee for a monthly service; that the user can cancel their contract for the cancelation fee (not that anyone would want to do that, if you're buying a phone, you are probably buying it to use a phone service); and that the fee provides services that are not available on Vita.

well, he also didnt include the price of games for iphone. but he did include the price of a data plan for the Vita (which 99% of owners wont have).

so i would say it was a pretty fair comparison.

also you dont need memory cards to play vita.

anyway, im still not sold on Vita, i need to see more game before i commit.

It's not a valid comparison since he is lumping in separate services and not aknowledging the services as an advantage on the device - essentially, you are buying the iPhone to use on the Smartphone service. You don't need to buy any games for the iPhone 4S since a great deal of them are freemium (that is, the game is free, but premium features, content, and services cost money); if you are going to lump in the services into the cost of the phone, then the price of games should be lumped into the price of the Vita since usage of the Vita is proportional to how much you shell out on games. Essentially, there is no point in owning a Vita without buying games for it, in the same way that there is no reason in buying an iPhone 4S off of ebay and not having a contract with it (unless you are in software development).
