@1st paragraph, that sucks, I was there, dont know what to tell you really. My only advice would be to actually get a system that you want to play games for. IE you like Ninty, but you know the Wii was getting crap all for 3rd party support, most games you buy will be third party you can only have one system. Does a person throw aside their love for a company and get the product that they know will have the games they want to play or do they be "faithful", knowing they will miss out and jump on forums complaning. Just a question 2nd If its not about you, why complain so much?? Consumer choice?? The damn WIi U isnt even out yet, consumers cannot make a choice on something that doesnt exist. When Wii U comes out and IF it flies off the shelves, then we can say the consumers chose and even then, its not like they said there will NEVER be a Wii U port, hell even Anniversary got a WII port long after the PS2 version was released. 3rd really?? You wanna compare sports to video game industry? They are not even remotely alike. Yeah I have a favorite team, but if they loose im not gonna throw a hissy fit, they try again later, because it DOESNT affect my life. If the GIANTS blow at Super Bowl at the end of the day it wont matter to me, unless I put money on the game. You wanna know the funny thing is, I used to be like you, with SEGA. I was worse, but at least I was young. We know what happened to Sega and I learned a lesson, screw companies. Video game loyalty is dumb, I care about games, whoever provides me with what I want I back them. PS brand has more than provided me everytime they release a system and I hate PS brand intially. They cant shut a system that they dont even have a deve kit for, if anything be mad at Ninty for not sending them one, thats there job, unless you suggest that they say screw PS360/PC audience let them wait to appease the nonexistant install base of Wii U?? It doesnt bother me, I just find it...weird IMHO. I was like you and I look at my time with disgust, but hell you're not bashing any other company so your much better than I was. |
@1: I was at gamestop yesterday wishing I could pre-order a Vita with UC. Not gonna happen. When it comes to gaming, I take a completely different approach. I buy only the games I want. For example, I nearly bought a 360 arcade 3 years ago just for Street Fighter IV. I reasoned it out and waited, ultimately I got both a 3DS (a platform I actually wanted) and SFIV last March (it was a big expense but I was still running on credit back then). But before I had a 3DS, I had a PS2 with used games. I play everything. Prior to moving, my favorite consoles were the Gamecube and the Dreamcast. I also play PC games. When it comes to gaming, I don't make preferences. I buy what I like and the content from devs I want to encourage. I don't take a "faithful" mentality when it comes to the games I buy, unless I'm boycotting, but I rarely ever do.
@2: I'm complaining because the Wii U is releasing in less than 12 months, and companies have dev kits. For a company to flat out refuse to make a game for the Wii U and blame it on unique features of the system revolts me. Not only is it PR talk, but it proves what some have been saying all along that devs shun Nintendo's platform with absolutely no valid reason. I know they haven't said "never", but their answer didn't give any hope at all for a timed release. Would you expect the same against the 360's successor, I believe not. The reasons for it are very complex, and alot is probably happening behind the scenes, but my take is Nintendo still has a TON of legwork to do to reconcile differences with western 3rd party publishers. Some of the more experienced Nintendo fans on the forum may have some answers for me, that's one of the reasons why I enjoy talking to them so much.
@3: To me, they are like competitive games/sports. The video game industry is like a race. Manufacturer's need to pace themselves. It's also like a strategy game, they need to make the right decisions (could be compared to a chess match). I'm not throwing a hissy fit, but I am aggravated. It does affect my life to a certain extent, I have been following this company on the internet for many years (since I'm 14 almost). When SEGA left the market, it was a tragedy. They were the only non-conglomerate aside from Nintendo. Granted the two new guys brought in alot to the industry, but SEGA was a fine manufacturer and games maker, with simply poor business management. I care about game, like I said in 1, I wear two hats. I don't know if you see what I mean. That's why sometimes I react as a gamer, and sometimes I react as a loyalist. Because part of me only cares about games, and part only cares about the state of the industry. That's why I don't bash others, because I know where to draw the line, but I don't like when others bash my favored company. I also don't feel disgust for myself, because I know where my boudaries are, and I don't let my loyalism affect my gaming choices (I got over that many years ago). Thanks for asking about all this.
