The Vita is also sold at a loss. It's priced the same as the PSP at launch. If they cared about $$$$ they wouldn't sell their consoles at a loss. |
They only sold the Ps3 that cheap because they wanted to stay competitive. Do you think anyone would pay $1200 for a release console when its competitor is only $400 bucks? No ofcourse not.
They wanted to stay relevant.
They made a huge investment on the Ps3 going as far as selling it at a loss. Because they knew that it would eventually make money. Like where we are right now.
If they sold it for $1000 at launch. No one would buy it. Everyone would have flocked to Xbox 360 as a cheap alternative. PS would have a good chance of dying in the future. Hence no money.
If you were Sony. Which one would you do?
Invest on the PS brand?
Or stay stubborn and sell the console in $1000 at launch?
Caring about gamers has nothing to do with it.
Yay!!!
