OMG!!!! ps3 can now upscale DVD movies ,ps1 and ps2 games upto full 1080p!!

both the 65nm based ps3 and the old ps3 with the EE chip can do upscaling.

the upscaling is done by emulation aided by the Cell processor and the RSX.

a 100$ dvd cannot upscale to full HD at 1080p.

 

You havn't been to Circuit City, Best Buy, or Radio Shack lately have you?

Panasonic has a dvd player with HDMI out that says right on the marketing ish on the box/system that it will upscale DVD's to 1080p. Cost for the dvd player is $89. This is the primary reason I will not buy either a HDDVD player or bluray, as they are way over priced for thier benefits over upscaled DVD players.
