they sell more hardware right to the customer. and they create a nice vertical ecosystem that pulls people in to buy more of their stuff, MS does have a margin advantage if i remember right, mainly due to software sales…. apples hardware margins are much higher than the rest of the industry, using a combination of massive purchases of components to guarantee parts and drive costs down for them and up for others.

They are! They kind of made their own ecosystem. They are the ones to make the harware, software, and manage customer service, they are a very well rounded company!
