PC gamers have had microphones as standard equipment for many years, and yet very few games utilize voice recognition on the PC. The same goes for the 360 where every user has a microphone, yet few games have utilized it. In fact, it's not until Kinect came around that voice commands started becoming normal in games. Combine that with the statements from BioWare that said Kinect is making it much easier.

Make of it what you will.

maibe because no one cares about it ?

i think it could be cool to control your squadmates only , other than that i dont see the point in it.

Maybe you'd care about it, if more ways of using it had been explored. It could be that we had found some gameplay where voice commands are really good to have. That's why games like Mass Effect 3 are experimenting with the feature. So we can find more exciting ways to play.

Either way, voice recognition is here to stay. Just look at smartphones and where they're headed with voice commands.
