That's because the game has influences from the Shin Megami Tensei saga (the top franchise of Atlus). In these types of games, there always exists 2 paths and sometimes 3 paths : Law (Angels) - Chaos (Demons) - Neutral (Your own path).

Law path  generally is to gain peace trough order.

Chaos path  generally is to gain peace being the stronger and do whatever you want

Neutral path depends on the game generally.
